2009- 2010!!

As last post of the year, I`m going to write about one thing I`m hoping for next year...
I am hoping that next year`s concerts will be as good as this year`s. 2009 was a great year for music in Brazil. Concerts from Backstreet Boys, The Killers, Kanye West, The Kooks, Jason Mraz, Sting, ACDC, and Lily Allen were only a few that made it here and ``wowed`` all fans.
For 2010 all fans are expecting even better concerts than 2009. For me, the one that I`m expecting the most is Coldplay which has their concert schedueled for March. I am already super excited and can`t wait to buy my tickets and finally get there!!
There is still one concert that I`m crossing my fingers that will be confirmed here in Brazil, next year which is John Mayer.
For me it is the one I am hoping to happen the most and I won`t miss it for ANYTHING in the world!!

Let`s all wait and see what happens next year...

I´ve downloaded and heard all of them and most of them are really good. My favorite one is Lady Gaga´s BAD ROMANCE. Its kind of a weird beat but I loved it! The video is even more weird and kind of freaky... check it out!!

MAMA-MIA!

This week´s musical is Mama-Mia!
Similar to the Across the Universe musical where all songs are based on the Beatle´s songs, Mama-Mia has all its songs based in an old band called Abba.
The story is about a mother and her daughter, who lives in Greece. Sophie(daughter), is about to get married and never got to know her father. She knows its one of the three men her mother dated. She invites the three of them in hopes of finally meeting her father.
Its a really funny and entertaining film and the songs make it even better!
I liked it mainly because of its songs and its comedy. The situation Sophie puts her mother in is hilarious, and along with its songs the movie is perfect.

Moulin Rouge

This week´s musical is more for the "romantic movies lovers".

Mounlin Rouge is about a beautiful love story that with its songs touches everyone´s heart.
The story happens in Paris(could there be a MORE romantic place?),in its famous cabaret house, as the title of the movie states, Moulin Rouge.
Even though the story may seem a little "boring" it excites all with its songs and events that lead unfortunately to a really sad ending.
It is produced with some of hollywood´s biggest starts including: Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor, Jim Broadbent,John Leguizamo, Richard Roxburgh, and Kylie Minogue.

Most of its songs are not really made up specially for the movie... but here they are with its greatest melodies:

This week´s post is about again ONE OF THE MOST PHENOMENAL musicals of all times.... RENT!!

Rent is a musical about,I think, everything we see in the world today. Every problem from health to material things.
The story is about a group of friends that each one has some kind of problem: either it being AIDS or GAY,LEBIAN,LOVE, MONEY and they are all connected to each other. The best thing about this musical is that it is most of the times very realistic, funny and even touching because it shows how people in our world struggle to surpass this obstacles.
Anyways, it is one of my favorite musicals, and the songs are great (the majority are made for the musical itself) which makes the musical EVEN BETTER!!

Across the Universe

Although this blog is about music I have decided to change the "usual" routine and write a little about musicals. For all musicals lovers (like me ) who loves Across the Universe, Rent, Moulin Rouge,Mama- Mia, Phantom of the Operah and others YOU WILL LOVE THIS NEXT POSTS!! ENJOYY!!



I´m going to start with Across the Universe, a musical composed ONLY by Beatles songs. Even though most people think musicals are cheesy and as brazillians say "brega" Across the Universe is different. First of all it is based on one of the world´s most famous and best bands EVER- The Beatles. Secondly it has more of "life" situations not really MOVIE FANTASY (involves war, death, love), and third and lastly ITS JUST GREAT!!! I love this musical and it is DEFINETLY one of my favorites ( Have seen it like 10 times). If you haven´t seen it yet go NOW to a video store and rent it, I guarantee you won´t regret!



Since the songs on the movie iare all from The Beatles, i dont have to say that they are great right? We all know how good their songs are, and in this musical the versions of the songs are evn better! I have hem ALL in my ipod and i NEVER get tired of listening to them... I know you know them all but here are the ones that are sung beautifully in the movie:
